ASSESSMENTS

New Clients seeking an Assessment will need to complete a New Client Form and Consent Form

and participate in a Triage appointment (Online Prediagnostic does not require a triage).

Some of these assessments can be done via telehealth.

Please also note, you cannot claim any part of the Assessment through Medicare. Medicare referrals are for therapy, not assessments.

Please note, Prediagnostic Testing & Diagnostic Assessment cover

both Autism and ADHD, we do not charge extra for this.

Prediagnostic testing helps build a clear picture of a person’s developmental, cognitive, emotional, and behavioural profile before a formal diagnosis is considered. It identifies areas of strength, flags potential support needs, and guides whether further assessment is warranted. This early clarity helps families, educators, and clinicians make informed decisions about next steps, reducing uncertainty and ensuring that any future assessment pathway is purposeful and well‑matched to the individual’s presentation.

This process allows us to make the most appropriate recommendation without the full cost of an assessment.

1 session Psychologist

A diagnostic assessment provides a comprehensive, evidence‑informed understanding of a person’s neurodevelopmental or mental health profile. It brings together interviews, standardised tools, observations, and background information to determine whether diagnostic criteria are met. The outcome offers clarity, language, and direction for individuals and families, and can support access to school adjustments, workplace accommodations, therapeutic supports, and funding pathways such as the NDIS. Specifically, this is to explore Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and other similar diagnoses.

SINGLE DISCIPLINARY ASSESSMENT

A single disciplinary diagnostic assessment is completed by Psychologist(s) only. This assessment information across relevant domains and determines whether a diagnosis is appropriate. This approach is suitable when the presentation is clear, the person’s history is well understood, and there are no significant concerns across other developmental areas. Provides a formal diagnosis (where relevant) however for NDIS & Education purposes, you will need to review this with a Paediatrician/Psychiatrist.

Up to 18 years: $2096.91*

9 sessions Psychologist

Over 18 years: $1747.43*

7.5 sessions Psychologist

MULTIDISCIPLINARY ASSESSMENT

A multidisciplinary diagnostic assessment involves two or more clinicians (for example, psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy, or paediatrics) working together to build a more detailed picture of the person’s strengths, communication profile, sensory needs, daily functioning, and developmental history. This pathway is recommended when the presentation is complex, when multiple domains may be contributing to the person’s experiences, or when agencies such as the NDIS require a broader evidence base. Multidisciplinary assessment provides a richer, more holistic understanding and ensures recommendations are coordinated across disciplines.

Conducted by Psychologist(s) and a Speech Pathologist/Occupational Therapist. Provides a formal diagnosis (where relevant) and is accepted by NDIS (current as of May 2026).

A cognitive assessment explores how a person thinks, learns, remembers, and solves problems. It highlights cognitive strengths, identifies areas where additional support may be needed, and provides insight into learning styles and processing differences. These results can guide educational planning, workplace adjustments, therapeutic goals, and NDIS applications by clearly linking cognitive functioning to everyday participation and support needs.

This assessment is used when identifying an Intellectual Disability.

An educational assessment examines academic skills such as reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics, alongside learning behaviours and environmental factors that influence performance. It helps identify barriers to learning, clarifies whether difficulties are related to specific learning disorders, and outlines practical strategies to support progress. The findings assist families, teachers, and support teams to implement targeted adjustments, evidence‑based interventions, and personalised learning plans that build confidence and engagement.

This assessment is used when identifying a Specific Learning Disorder such as Dyslexia.

11 sessions Psychologist

This assessment is conducted by a Psychologist(s) AND Speech Pathologist OR Occupational Therapist.

A psychosocial functional capacity assessment provides a holistic understanding of how a person’s mental health, sensory profile, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and daily‑living skills interact in everyday life. This multidisciplinary approach captures the full pictureof how someone thinks, feels, organises, communicates, moves, and participates across home, community, education, and work settings. The assessment highlights strengths, identifies barriers to participation, and outlines practical, evidence‑informed recommendations that support safety, independence, and wellbeing. For NDIS participants, it offers robust, discipline‑specific evidence that clearly links functional needs to the supports required to enhance capacity, stability, and meaningful engagement. It can also result in a diagnosis being formed and reported.

Conducted bb an Occupational Therapist. A functional capacity assessment provides understanding of how a person manages everyday tasks, participates in their community, and engages in meaningful activities. It highlights strengths, identifies support needs, and offers practical recommendations that guide therapy, funding applications, and service planning.

For NDIS participants, it can be especially valuable in demonstrating the link between a person’s functional abilities and the supports required to enhance independence, safety, and quality of life.

Assessment Process:

When used appropriately, standardised autism diagnostic instruments may inform and

enhance diagnostic decision-making and treatment planning.

These instruments were developed to support and enhance expert clinical judgment, not to replace it.

Use of specific instruments is not appropriate in all situations. Instrument development work should focus on creating and adapting tools, based on sound research, that can be efficiently administered to diverse patient populations by a range of providers.

Professionals involved in the diagnostic assessment of autism must be trained in best practice methods for differential diagnosis (not just in the use of specific instruments), including how to individualise test batteries appropriate to each particular situation.

We do not use an ADOS in our diagnostic assessment. The ADOS is one test that can be used. We use the MIGDAS assessment as it is neuroaffirming (click on the button below).
