ASSESSMENTS

New Clients seeking an Assessment will need to complete a New Client Form and Consent Form

and participate in a Triage appointment (Online Prediagnostic does not require a triage).

Some of these assessments can be done via telehealth.

Please contact us to find out more or visit the Telehealth page on our website.

Please also note, you cannot claim any part of the Assessment through Medicare. Medicare referrals are for therapy, not assessments.

Assessment Process:

When used appropriately, standardised autism diagnostic instruments may inform and enhance diagnostic decision-making and treatment planning.

These instruments were developed to support and enhance expert clinical judgment, not to replace it.

Use of specific instruments is not appropriate in all situations. Instrument development work should focus on creating and adapting tools, based on sound research, that can be efficiently administered to diverse patient

populations by a range of providers.

Professionals involved in the diagnostic assessment of autism must be trained in best practice methods for differential diagnosis (not just in the use of specific instruments), including how to individualise test batteries appropriate to each particular situation.

We do not use an ADOS in our diagnostic assessment. The ADOS is one test that can be used. We use the MIGDAS assessment as it is neuroaffirming (click on the button below).

PREDIAGNOSTIC TESTING

We recommend Prediagnostic Testing for anyone considering an assessment or those uncertain about the best first step to take. This testing identifies mental health conditions and challenges that may impact thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, while also showcasing strengths and areas for improvement. Additionally, it helps us recommend the most suitable type of assessment.

We email psychometric tests to the Parent/Teacher or Self/Trusted Adult. Once the psychometric tests are completed, we will email a brief overview letter that will make recommendations on the steps to move ahead. We do not always recommend a full diagnostic assessment. This process allows us to make the most appropriate recommendation without the full cost of an assessment.
